I don’t know about you, but yellow can be a tricky color. It’s beautiful and happy, great for all seasons. But what do you wear with it?
I think where a lot of us get caught up with yellows is the names of the color variations, because even on a simple pinterest or google search, it seems that there is some misconception. So really quick, I’m going to lay it out for you.
Golden yellow leans more toward orange. It can be vibrant and bold. Mustard yellow leans more toward brown and typically is a bit more…earthy, if that makes sense. Not as vibrant.

1. What Color Shoes to Wear With a Mustard Yellow Dress

Mustard yellow and navy blue are basically best friends. It also looks really great with forest green, a darker charcoal color, a lighter brown/gray mixture like that of a mushroom, and a faded periwinkle bluish color. Earth tones, right?

I wouldn’t have picked anything different for it, but say you’re needing a more casual look? Mustard dresses can also pair well with mustard colored shoes, white shoes, black shoes, burgundy shoes, or any of those earth tones listed above.

2. What Color Shoes to Wear With a Golden Yellow Dress
Steal The Look
Golden yellow is much more brighter than the mustard yellow, although it’s not terribly far off. There are definitely other yellow shades that are distinctly different. But for this one, I want you to think of the petals of a sunflower for easy remembering.
In this look here, she’s wearing clear strappy heels with hers simply because the dress is stunning on its own. You could easily get away with cute white sneakers, white heels, blue heels, salmon heels, emerald green heels, the list goes on for the type of shoes you can wear with a dress.
Bright happy colors love other bright colors. There is lots of room to play here!
3. What Color Shoes to Wear With a Black and Yellow Dress
Steal The Look
The bumble bee has had it right all along. Black and yellow look great together, and unless you find a yellow dress with black polka dots, you may not find a lot of black and yellow together on one piece.
This is a great black and yellow business attire look. She’s wearing black heels with it, and I think that’s probably the best way to go here unless you were wanting nude or white heels. Because the black and yellow is so bold, there is no reason to go crazy with the shoe choice here.
To recap, yellows always look great with black and whites. Some hues of yellow look better with more earthy tones whereas other hues look better with brighter tones. It’s already such a bold color that it doesn’t always need bold shoes with it.
